Legendary folk singer-songwriter John Prine will grace the Merriam Theater stage for one night only. Prine's body of work has become the high-water mark of American songwriting, and his songs have found a home in the repertoire of musical luminaries from Bonnie Raitt and Johnny Cash to George Strait. He wins Grammys as a folk artist, but you can't really categorize a genius as big as Prine's. His songs are notable for both their bite and their warmth - the gentle surface of ballads such as "All the Best" often hide a dark heart, while angrier numbers like "Angel from Montgomery" always seem to forgive the targets of their indignation. His music captures moments that reveal the gently folded human truths binding us all together, reinvigorating the soul and reminding us that life should be enjoyed - not rushed. Don't miss your chance to see this true American songwriting icon live in concert!
