If you find it difficult to stay seated, don’t worry. Get ready to move! After a two-year hiatus, Spoken Hand Percussion Orchestra is back! Co-directed by Philly legends Daryl Burgee and Lenny Seidman, Spoken Hand is a two-time winner of Philadelphia City Paper’s “Best World Music/Roots Performance” Choice Award. This ensemble features 12 of the Philadelphia region’s most disciplined and renowned hand drummers. A vivacious celebration of polyphonic rhythm, Spoken Hand merges the traditions of North Indian tabla, Afro-Cuban bata, West African djembe and Afro-Brazilian samba into its own distinctive sound. A hometown favorite, Spoken Hand’s shows are not to be missed!
