BalletX: Fall Series 2009 at the Wilma Theater
November 19-November 22, 2009
BalletX opens its third season as the resident dance company of The Wilma Theater with Fall Series 2009, an intriguing presentation of three dance premieres by three choreographers: Alex Ketley, an award-winning independent dance maker, presents Silt, an exciting dance of extreme physicality exploring how personal ideas about oneself can get lost in the sweep of life. SILT is set to a collage by TarJMB of the music by Chris Clark, Giovanni Pergolesi and Arvo Pärt. Meredith Rainey, a former soloist with Pennsylvania Ballet, returns to BalletX after dancing with the company for two past seasons. His new work is inspired by a Chris Armstrong painting called “Summerhead “ and is set to a contemporary cello piece “World to Come” by David Lang. Title TBA. Matthew Neenan, co-founder and artistic director of BalletX, features his new ballet that brings out individuality of dancers, focusing on solo and duet dancing, set to a contemporary soundtrack. Please stay a little longer after a show to meet the choreographers at one of the Post-Show Q&A Sessions offered at the opening night performance on November 19 (with Alex Keltey and Meredith Rainey) and following the Saturday matinee, November 21 (with Alex Ketley and Matthew Neenan).
