Level: Intermediate/Advanced. Chad Andrews has taught printmaking at the University of Pennsylvania and Interlochen Center for the Arts for over eleven years. His passion is for printmaking and he employs a direct no-press method. The emphasis of his class will be on the creation of mono-prints through a direct ink transfer method, which will offer an opportunity to delve into uncharted waters of image reproduction. His use of tracing produces individual works that closely relate to each other, but offer unlimited potential in image styling. This will allow for a more free approach to creating new images. You will have a tour of Chad Andrews' works on display, followed by an hour and a half hands-on lecture of the process and methods involved, a quick lunch break, and an afternoon of working and exchanging ideas and discoveries. You will be working with oil-based printing inks and various drawing mediums to create many test studies and two or three finished 15"x22" pieces. Materials will be provided. However, bring digital printouts or Xeroxes of images (5-10) from which you are interested in working. Also bring your favorite mediums, materials and ideas. Bring a lunch.
