Heart Of Stone
February 8, 2010
To know Ron Stone, the former principal of Newark’s Weequahic High School (Philip Roth’s Alma Mater), is to know a hero. His dedication and spirit shines brilliantly in this award-winning documentary about the students, teachers, community leaders, and Jewish alumni who defused gang tension in their inner-city neighborhood and initiated programs to get kids off the streets and into college. Winner of the "Audience Award" for "Best Documentary" at the Slamdance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, and voted "Best Feature" at last year’s Philadelphia Film Festival. Special Guest Speaker: Director Beth Toni Kruvant and Harold l. Braff, Esq., Co-president of Weequahic High School’s Alumni Association.
