Philadelphia children will be able to experience the city’s first and largest downtown pumpkin patch. Pumpkinland aims to bring the farm to the city for children to enjoy. The pre- Halloween celebration will host families and children who want to decorate pumpkins in preparation for Halloween. The Shambles will be decorated with bales of hay and pumpkins galore, which will be delivered by a local farm. Pumpkins can be bought for carving at home or they can be painted at the event, with supplies that will be available for everyone for free. In continuing with the farm to city theme, there will be a petting zoo conducting pony rides and supplying exotic animals. As children are getting their faces painted and decorating pumpkins, they can rock out to live music by the miniature stars of our future, The School of Rock All Stars and the up and coming Philly group, The Josh and Pete Band. There will also be a special performance by the children’s dance group Darlington Dance Co. Have a dog that wants to get in on that Pumpkland action as well? At 12:30 pm ThePhillyDog.com will be sponsoring a dog costume parade.
