Art can be used as a means of bridging divides, real or imagined, between people. The Margaret R. Grundy Memorial Library is proud to host two art exhibitions on Historic Bristol Day, October 17, 2009 from 10 am until 4 pm. First is an exhibition of photography that spans the divide of time; it is the complete collection of Bristol life-long photographer, ninety-three year old working barber Joseph P. Cuttone. Mr. Cuttone’s recently donated photographic pieces highlight the myriad changes he has seen in Bristol’s history, his family’s history, and the local environs. Selected pieces of the Cuttone collection will remain on display through Thursday, October 29, 2009 during regular library hours. Second, spanning a geographic divide is an exhibition of ten oil and acrylic pieces produced by various artists of Bristol’s sister city Spinetoli, Italy. These paintings were recently displayed for the European festival Notte dei Musei held annually each May since 2005.
