The Wagner Free Institute of Science presents “Life at the Bottom of the World: Deep Sea Cephalopods of the Atlantic,” an illustrated presentation by Delaware Museum of Natural History Curator of Mollusks, Dr. Elizabeth Shea. Dr. Shea has done research for the National Marine Fisheries Service and the Bedford Institute of Oceanography Ecosystems Research Division focusing on the ecology and systematics of cephalopods, especially open-ocean squids. She will show examples of living and working on a deep-sea research vessel and will introduce the research objectives of recent trips to the Northwest Atlantic Ocean. Come early to explore the Wagner’s historic building and unparalleled collections. This program is part of the Institute’s evening lecture series, “Weeknights at the Wagner.” Dr. Shea will speak on Thursday, October 15th, 2009, at 5:30 pm. The museum will stay open late (4-7 pm) for this event.
