As a boy in Poland, Jakob narrowly escapes Nazi soldiers. He grows up to be a writer (Stephen Dillane) plagued by survivor guilt. What will it take for Jakob to accept his past and embrace the love he so desperately desires? Evocative and highly cinematic, the film is based on Anne Michaels's beautiful novel (1996), and the Canadian director, Jeremy Podeswa has also helmed Into the West, as well as episodes of popular TV series like Weeds, The Tudors, and Six Feet Under. In English, Greek, Yiddish and German with English subtitles.
