CLASSES & WORKSHOPS

Paper & Silk Marbling
September 25, 2009
Age teen w/parent. Science and art converge in this exciting workshop! Marbling is a creative process the yields beautiful results, simply. You’ll work with a palette of specially formulated inks dripped, sprinkled, and speckled over a dense cellulous liquid and then use a variety of tools to manipulate the floating colors to create traditional and untraditional marbled patterns. Lay pre-treated rice paper and a silk scarf over the liquid surface and watch the colors transfer to the silk and paper; it’s really quit magical! Learn 15th century Turkish marble techniques and experience a piece of history dating back to the Ottoman Empire!
