Jugalbandhi
October 3, 2009
Jugalbandhi is a special classical music duet of two vocalists or two instrumentalists. Sometimes the performers hail from different musical traditions. This concert features two of India’s accomplished instrumentalists: Shashank is a flautist playing the bamboo flute in the Carnatic music tradition and Ustad Shahid Pervez is a sitarist in the Hindustani tradition. The audience should be ready for an evening of extraordinary virtuosity and artistic exploration with no boundaries. They will be accompanied by two of India’s leading percussionists Anand Ananthakrishnan on Mridangam and Shubjyoti Guha on Tabla. This instrumental concert has been funded by The Pew Center for Arts and Heritage, through the Philadelphia Music Project.
