Lamentations of Jeremiah - Six cantatas for Holy Week
March 27, 2010
The Philadelphia Baroque Orchestra Tempesta di Mare, hailed for its "masterful creative will and technical virtuosity" (Tageblatt, Germany), performs Jan Dismas Zelenka's stirring Lamentations of Jeremiah for the first time. Rarely heard live in their entirety, these six cantatas paint a profound portrait of spirituality and are scored for colorful chamber ensemble and vocal soloists. With Lori Gratis, alto, Aaron Sheehan, tenor and Sumner Thomson, bass. There will be a pre-concert talk by Tanya Kevorkian.
