Piffaro’s program, centered around the music of Juan Hidalgo, innovator and originator of early Spanish opera, will reconstruct the palette of musical timbres that formed the soundscape of the Spanish mid-17th century cultural flowering – guitars, harp, winds of all kinds, and voice –with guests Ellen Hargis, soprano, Julie Andrijeski, dance and violin, and guitarists Patrick O’Brien, Daniel Swenberg and Charles Weaver.
