Join Chicago Botanic Garden’s Plant Evaluation Manager Richard Hawke as he reveals what has been learned through the Garden’s Plant Evaluation Program – one of the largest and most diverse in the nation, and also one of the few programs in the United States that formally evaluates perennials. A variety of proven perennials, including new selections and old favorites will be highlighted. Free and open to the public. Richard Hawke is the Chicago Botanic Garden’s Plant Evaluation Manager, and is responsible for the comparative evaluation of over 10,000 plants representing 1,200 taxa of herbaceous perennials, vines, shrubs and small trees. He is the author of Plant Evaluation Notes, writes for numerous horticulture publications and teaches frequently at the Garden. Richard recently received the Perennial Plant Association’s Academic Award for teaching excellence. This lecture is co-sponsored with the Hardy Plant Society/Mid-Atlantic Chapter. A reception will follow
