Join The Philadelphia Singers and Philadelphia new music ensembles Relache and Orchestra 2001 for a not-to-be-missed evening of premieres by three of today’s musical giants. Enjoy the premiere of Persephone by Philip Glass, whose music and impact reaches from the concert hall and opera house to the dance world, Academy Award winning films and popular music. Then, 2009 Pulitzer Prize winner in music, Steve Reich, will explore the use of the voice as a textural and harmonic focal point in the Philadelphia premiere of his moving You Are (Variations). The Philadelphia premiere of two laude for female chorus from British composer Gavin Bryars’ Laude Cortonese rounds out the program.

Presented by The Philadelphia Singers and the Annenberg Center’s Penn Presents. This project was funded by the Pew Center for Arts & Heritage through the Philadelphia Music Project.
