Shifting between the United States and Lebanon, The Night Counter is the striking tale of one modern Arab American family, told through its matriarch, Fatima Abdullah. Through Fatima's stories of her childhood in Lebanon and journey across the United States, the author unravels four generations of a family whose members are as desperate as Fatima to find where they belong.
