      A focused drama that takes on one of those "don't-talk-about-it" family dilemmas, this is a well-written, well-acted play about a young woman caught up in a cult. What to do? Parents and siblings want to get her home again, but can they? Nothing here is dumbed down. The playwright shows a sophisticated understanding of the issues and avoids simplistic solutions. Salvation Road is good entertainment that takes on a tough issue: What can a society committed to freedom of speech and freedom of religion do when those freedoms are used to destructive ends?       First off the play was well written, incredibly well cast, and the acting was excellent. The flashbacks and transitions were flawless and kept things interesting. You are really brought into the story... Expand

      First off the play was well written, incredibly well cast, and the acting was excellent. The flashbacks and transitions were flawless and kept things interesting. You are really brought into the story and left with hope that things worked out with the characters. It can stand alone as a great performance on just that. But the other level was the accuracy and presentation of the subject matter. Presenting the dynamics of a family member in a cult is no easy task. It was done so in a compelling way here within a modern and realistic scenario. All complemented with just the right subtle amount of humor, sound, and lighting. I would recommend it for its entertainment value, as well as its educational value, on an obscure but important element of society. Collapse

      Salvation Road presents an uncomfortable reality on a topic that needs to be discussed. A brother and sister are trying to "rescue" their "lost" sister who has succombed to the deceitful allure of a religious cult. Salvation Road explores family relationships, while examining tactics employed by cult leaders not only to lure the weak and unsuspecting, but to cut them off from the rest of society, including their families. Well performed by a group of promising young actors. The "no frills" setting was a perfect backdrop for this poignant play. A "Must See" for anyone who knows someone who's trapped in a cult, and highly recommended for everyone else. Collapse

      The casting in this play was superb and anyone interested in knowing how someone can get (so easily) involved in a cult will find it fascinating. The playright captures the frustration fo the family members who can no longer "reach" their loved one and the vulnerability of the young woman who gets caught in the web of the cult as she mistakes "recruitment" as friendliness and her idealism makes her a perfect target. Great show. I highly recommend it. Collapse

      Salvation Road is an eye-opener! Well- written, directed and produced, the play explores the inner-workings of cults through the eyes of a teenage brother whose sister has been indoctrinated. A splash of humor from the winning sidekick adds to the script and keeps the play moving at a fast clip. Highly recommended. Collapse

      The playwright has a gift; I could see this happening in my family, including the road trip the kids take, without me knowing about it. The humor is right on, and the kids talk just like my own. The emotional parts of the play brought tears to my eyes. I highly recommend this play to everyone, it is fantastic and should be a movie or on Broadway Collapse

      It was a pleasure to be a member of the audience for "Salvation Road." The playwright captured the confusion and pain of family members who lose contact with a loved one after they enter a cult. The cult member's siblings and friend went on a search for this new recruit that was both funny and heart-breaking. Furthermore, the playwright was also able to show how the cult deceptively "hooked" this idealistic young woman through her pleasure of music and, later, pressured her to renounce this central attachment as well as her tie to her skeptical family members. I also found this play to be superbly directed. It moved at a brisk pace and the acting by the young cast was quite believable and touching. I appreciated the high quality of the production.       I've been to many Fringe performances, but truly this is one of the best I've seen. The writing, acting and staging were excellent. It draws you in and at the end leaves you wanting for more. This the caliber of art the Fringe should hold as a standard. If you haven't seen it, don't miss it! Collapse

      It was a pleasure to be a member of the audience for "Salvation Road." The playwright captured the confusion and pain of family members who lose contact with a loved one after they enter a cult.
