Feast your eyes on an exhibition that explores the theme of the fruit still life through the lens of summer. Fruits of Summer includes more than 50 works featuring watermelon, peaches, strawberries and other fruits associated with the season, presented with an eye toward tracing the history of this theme in the 19th century. Among the leading still life artists of the period represented are Raphaelle Peale, James Peale, Severin Roesen, and Joseph Decker. The exhibition also includes examples of still life theorems, chromolithographs, and botanical prints, many from the Brandywine River Museum's important collection of American still-life painting.
