An exploration of Tibet through painting will be in the form of a sand mandala, a unique Tibetan Buddhist tradition, brought to life by Philadelphia’s own Venerable Losang Samten. Losang, founder of the Tibetan Buddhist Center of Philadelphia, former attendant to the Dalai Lama, and Pew Fellow, will create a mandala at the Trinity Center for Urban Life. On Saturday, May 9 @ 10:30 am, there will be an opportunity for children of all ages to learn more about mandalas and to participate in a Q&A with Losang. Afterward, the intricately painted sand mandala will be swept away and returned to the water as an acknowledgement of impermanence and with participation of the audience.
