"Antiquities and Museum Acquisitions: Penn Museum Leading the Way"
In 1970, the Penn Museum stopped acquiring antiquities that had been looted from their archaeological contexts and illegally exported from their countries of origin. Dr. Richard Leventhal, founder and director of the Penn Cultural Heritage Center and Curator, American Section, and Dr. C. Brian Rose, Curator-in-Charge, Mediterranean Section, present the context for this important decision.
