For the first time ever, explore the history and fashion of one of Motown’s pioneering groups, The Supremes.

From January 25 through June 30, the African American Museum in Philadelphia celebrates the glory and talent of the influential group during the new exhibition Come See About Me: The Mary Wilson Supremes Collection.

Featuring more than 30 gowns worn by the iconic musical trio — maintained in a personal collection by Ms. Wilson — the exhibit explores Mary Wilson’s journey as part of an internationally renowned female group whose music broke racial barriers during a tumultuous time in U.S. history.

The impressive collection features gowns beaded with pearls and rhinestones, some weighing approximately 30 pounds. Fans can also view gold records, rarely seen video footage, album covers and additional historic artifacts.

The exhibition will cover The Supremes’ impact on not only the music industry, but not only on music, but also women’s empowerment and history, African American history and culture, American pop culture of 60s and 70s, and of course, fashion.
