Make your MLK Day significant and meaningful by participating in bringing resources to sustainable economic development in the black community through this project with Uhuru Furniture & the African People's Education and Defense Fund (apedf.org).

MLK Day w/ Uhuru Furniture includes a 1hr program - at the Double Tree Hotel in downtown Phila - of historical clips of MLK and the Civil Rights Movement, an APEDF presentation, music performance by Tina, and a community discussion - followed by an outreach service project.

Volunteers will work in teams to spread the word about UFC's donation pick-up service by hanging door flyers, posters and passing out leaflets in designated sections of the city. Brief training, snacks, shuttles and water provided. Service is concluded with a complimentary pizza lunch for all participants.

Drivers wanted for the day. If you have a car and are willing to transport others to volunteer outreach sites please let us know!
