Highlighting the history and activities of one of the most active cultural heritage crime units in the world, two Italian military police officers discuss major threats to cultural heritage and how Italy is attempting to combat these illegal activities. Carmelo Manola and Angelo Ragusa of the Italian Carabinieri present an overview of the historical outlines, functions and activities carried out by their organization for the protection of cultural heritage at the national and international levels. They also discuss the main threats to cultural heritage, as well as the instruments to fight them. A reception follows the lecture. This program is sponsored by the Penn Cultural Heritage Center.
