What happens when you combine two very different mediums to paint a flower, fruit, or vegetable? This simple and enjoyable technique results in a vibrant, life-like painting. The first step is to paint a flat, one-color, simple shape that becomes the underpainting. Then a layering and blending of wax-based colored pencils adds glowing, realistic depth to the painting. Eileen’s step-by-step demonstrations will explain the process. Fruits, vegetables, and other plants will be provided. No previous experience required. Please bring the following supplies: If you already have watercolors, bring them, if not purchase a basic set of watercolors (found at Michaels or A.C. Moore), one watercolor brush, a small dish or palette for mixing paint, a small container for water, a set of 24 or 48 count Premier Prismacolor colored pencils (wax based and NOT Prismacolor Scholar or watercolor pencils), a Strathmore Bristol, smooth finish, 300 series pad (no larger than 9 x 12”), and a pencil sharpener.
