Originating from the Armenian word for grill, mangal is the name for Turkish barbecue. A typical mangal meal consists of grilled vegetables, shish kebabs of meats and meatballs called köfte. Generally held in gardens or picnic areas, it stresses hospitality towards the guests. Beyond just consuming food, mangal often means a gathering of friends and family.
