Saturday July 21st and Sunday July 22nd Metropolitan Fine Art welcomes artist Clare Barrett to our gallery. Between 2-4pm on both days, stop by to meet and see exclusive pieces by Clare Barrett. Clare Barrett was born in Watford, England outside of London. After graduating as a teacher from Nonnington College in Kent, Clare moved to Milan and traveled and worked throughout Europe for several years. Wanting to explore America, during the 1980s Clare lived in Texas, California, Connecticut, and New York. In the United States, Clare followed her longstanding passion for food and pursued a culinary career, working in New York City as a private chef and at several restaurants with Charles Keiley (The Grocery), with Anthony Bourdain (No Reservations of The Travel Channel), and with Rick Laakkonen (Luxe), and in New Jersey with Edwin Coss (The Milford Oyster House). When Clare's interest in painting emerged around 2007, her art naturally reflected her love of food. Clare has studied still life painting with still life master, Frank Acuri, and abstract painting with educator and curator Pat Martin. Clare now lives in Lambertville, New Jersey and is exhibiting in Metropolitan Fine Art (www.themetrofineart.com), the Cortile Gallery in Provincetown, Massachusetts (www.cortilegallery.com), and the Hawker Gallery in Old Amersham, Bucks, England (www.thehawkergallery.co.uk). Clare also had a solo exhibition at The French Culinary Institute in New York City (from September through December 2010). Clare’s abstract submission was accepted in the Artsbridge 2009 annual juried show and she has many paintings in private collections in the United States and England.
