4th Annual MLK365 Beer Summit on Race Relations Featuring Professor Marc Lamont Hill
August 1, 2012
Three years ago this July, in the aftermath of the arrest of Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates on the front porch of his own home by Cambridge Police Sergeant James Crowley, President Obama invited the two men to the White House for a meeting over beer to discuss the incident. At the same time in Philadelphia, MLK365 organized a Beer Summit in Center City, Philadelphia, for concerned citizens to meet, mingle, and discuss race relations in our city and throughout America. On Wednesday, August 1st, we will continue our discussion about race, class and power and how we all can overcome the barriers that threaten to divide us. Our conversation will feature Columbia University Professor Marc Lamont Hill. Among topics of discussion, will be his most recent book, The Classroom and the Cell: Conversations on Black Life in America.
