The People’s Emergency Center (PEC) invites jazz enthusiasts of all ages to experience a day of free, live music from the area’s top artists and emerging talent at the Lancaster Avenue Jazz & Arts Festival. Vertical Current, Doc Gibbs and Friends, Jazz Planet and others will bring upbeat performances in a range of styles throughout the afternoon. The event begins with a high-energy kick off by nationally recognized drill team the West Powelton Steppers. In addition to live performances, the festival features walking tours of the neighborhood’s vibrant murals, exhibits by local artists and a marketplace featuring hundreds of handcrafted items such as jewelry, pottery, and housewares. Family activities include a moon bounce and children’s arts and crafts. After working up an appetite dancing to live music, attendees can enjoy a variety of delicious food from local vendors like the Fresh Food Hub, Gigi and Big R, and Powelton Pizza.
