Summer Reading of New Plays Series
July 11-August 8, 2012
White Pines Productions is pleased to continue its summer reading series of new plays by local playwrights. Join them on Wednesday evenings in July and August to hear a new full-length play (or two new one-acts) read by professional actors, and stick around to chat with the playwright, actors and director. All readings begin at 7:00 pm and are free.
Sea Glass Ladies and My TriniDad, by Albert Fried-Cassorla, directed by Deb Block.
Sea Glass Ladies is a short play about a middle-aged man who meets younger and older women who are collecting sea glass on a beach in Puerto Rico. Despite its brevity, it explores the nature of risk-taking, romance and the pursuit of happiness. My TriniDad is a short play about a middle aged white tourist in Barbados, who meets and a young Trinidadian girl while treading water in the Caribbean and comes to understand understands her torments. Her psyche is revealed, and his is challenged. This story is extrapolated from a true encounter by the playwright in Barbados.
