Project Mercury Capsule Replica on Display
June 1-July 4, 2012
Honor the 50th Anniversary of the Project Mercury Mission by viewing a Mercury Capsule replica. The replica Project Mercury capsule was donated to the Johnsville Centrifuge and Science Museum by a private collector earlier this year. Residents and visitors are invited to stop by the Bucks County Visitor Center, located directly in front of PARX Casino, to view the replica of the Mercury Capsule and imagine what it was like to be one of America’s first astronauts. The capsule is one of many exhibits owned by the Johnsville Centrifuge and Science Museum, which is currently seeking a full-time, permanent home where it can inspire youth to explore scientific fields of study while telling the story of important technological developments made at NADC and Bucks County’s unique link to the U.S. Space program.
While you’re there, be sure to check out the “Creative Bucks County: A Celebration of Art and Artists” exhibit, permanently on display in the Visitor Center’s Main Gallery.
