Arts on South is a program that places artists in vacant storefronts on South Street to reinvigorate the community through creative placemaking.

The June 22nd Fourth Friday gallery receptions will be from 5-8 pm and include:

The Roots Mural Project (327 South) will feature a student exhibition from four of their after school program sites at Sayre High School, Waring Elementary School, Achieving Independence Center (AIC) and the Asian Arts Initiative. They have spent the entire year learning about music, album design, and discovering the pathway to their own creative goals. Students DJ Ryan and MC Quaa Lovee will provide the music, and they'll have food, drink, and an artist meet-and-greet at this free event.

Neighborhood Bike Works - South Philly (508 S 5th) will feature the closing reception for Listen to the Kids! Youth Artists Speak Out!. Featuring the installation work of students in Congreso de Latinos Unidos' North Star After-School Program in collaboration with teaching artist Tim Gibbon, this exhibition presents youth voices calling for positive social change.

Tattooed Mom (530 South) will feature the exhibition Creatures of The Night, an art show featuring anything from snakes, devils, and horrors to benefit Street Tails, an organization that gives unwanted and abandoned animals a second chance with a focus on those with special needs

Paradigm Gallery + Studio (803 S 4th Street) will feature the exhibition Starter Home: Works by Kay Healy. Printmaker and installation artist Kay Healy will be building 350 square feet of fabric “rooms” including over 100 hand-drawn, screen printed and sewn furniture pieces created based on the memories of four Philadelphian’s childhood homes.
