“Would I Do It Again?” The Journey to Self-Publishing A Children’s Picture Book

    Instructors: Jessica Dimuzio

Learn about one author’s journey from moment of conception through the pivotal points that led her to become writer, illustrator, publisher, publicist, salesperson, and speaker of an international award-winning children’s picture book. Through discussion of lessons acquired and workshop exercises, Jessica Dimuzio will help you determine whether self-publishing is for you. And find out: “Would she do it again?”

Dr. Jessica Dimuzio graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, specializing in wildlife preservation. She has conducted research on elephants, rhinos, and wild baboons and taught conservation programs in Africa, Asia, and North America. Dr. D. leads discovery programs at area nature preserves and conducts non-fiction writing workshops for grades 1 to 4 at local schools and is a member of the Young Writers’ Day Program since 2009. Dr. Dimuzio’s debut children’s book, the fact-based Bark! Bark! Bark for My Park!, received the Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators International Kimberly Colen Memorial Grant Award and a silver medal from the Mom’s Choice Awards.
