As the National Collage Society celebrates the 100th anniversary of collage in 2012, the Philip and Muriel Berman Museum of Art is delighted to collaborate once again with the NCS on its annual juried exhibition.

A reception in honor of the 100th anniversary milestone will be held on July 12th from 6-8 pm, with music by the Paul Woznicki Trio.

A Collage Workshop is scheduled for July 14th and led by Gretchen Bierbaum, President, National Collage Society. Pre-registration is required at 610-409-3500.

The installation was rigorously reviewed by the Jury of Selection: Christine Poggi, Professor, History of Art, University of Pennsylvania; Daniel Miller, artist and Chair of the Graduate Programs, The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts; and Carol Wisker, collage artist and administrator.

Collage existed in many craft forms before Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso incorporated it into their art in 1912, elevating it to a fine art. The genre evolved through the 20th century using contemporary media and new dimensions. The National Collage Society was founded to educate the public about this art medium through exhibitions, lectures, publications and workshops.

The Philip and Muriel Berman Museum of Art at Ursinus College, known for its diverse collection and innovative educational programming, is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, and noon to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The Museum is closed Mondays and college holidays. The Museum is accessible to the physically disabled, and admission is free. The Museum is accredited by the American Association of Museums. Exhibitions and programs are funded in part by a grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and annual support from Epps Advertising.
