Join Philadelphia-based opera company the Philadelphia Opera Collective at their next performance of the American opera Slow Dusk by Carlisle Floyd. Floyd’s first opera is a simple yet powerful story, set in the sand hills of the Carolinas, amidst poverty and religious extremism. The story unfolds around a tragedy on a May afternoon, which alters the course of a young girl’s life.

The Philadelphia Opera Collective is a group consisting of young professionals and emerging artists in the operatic field. We are dedicated to providing opportunities for young artists as well as creating a forum where the creative development of the operatic medium is a collective effort among its artists. We hope to use our productions to not only increase the amount of chamber opera in Philadelphia but to craft an environment where opera becomes accessible to those not familiar with the art form.
