Performed at the Opera Festival St. Margarethen in Austria

    (NR) HD digital
    d. Robert Herzl
    Music by Giuseppe Verdi
    Conducted by Ernst Märzendorfer
Starring Eszter Sümegi, Kostadin Andreev, Cornelia Helfricht

Recorded live in HD at the Opera Festival St. Margarethen, Verdi’s masterful classic of forbidden love between Egyptian leader Radames and Ethiopian princess Aida is presented in extravagant fashion. Packed with live horses, elephants, and pyrotechnics, Robert Herzl’s spectacular direction is truly awe-inspiring.

Founded in 1996, the Opera Festival St. Margarethen in Austria is regarded as one of the most important open-air festivals in Europe, drawing over 200,000 opera fans annually. Performed on Europe’s largest natural stage, a magnificent setting created by 2,000 years of sandstone erosion, the venue’s grandeur has allowed for operas such as Aida and Nabucco to be opulently performed.
