Died at Sea, Lost at Sea, Buried at Sea: Part II
July 18, 2012
Died at sea, lost at sea, buried at sea… These words inscribed on a grave marker tell us that there is some tragic, perhaps mysterious, story or event associated with that individual’s connection to the world’s deep blue expanse. Laurel Hill has many examples that illustrate this phenomenon. The second installation of this program will delve into and expose many more of the circumstances that lie beneath many a-watery grave. Close your eyes for a moment on this sultry evening at Laurel Hill, and the scent of salt air, the echoes of ocean waves, may carry by us on the reminiscent winds of summers past. This lecture and walking tour will be led by Professor Emeritus and Resident Folklorist at Widener University, Dr. J. Joseph Edgette. It will conclude with wine and refreshments.
