XPN Welcomes John Mayall
July 10, 2012
Formed in early '60s London, John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers are well known for cultivating new talent. Starting with Eric Clapton and Jack Bruce (formed Cream), followed by Peter Green, John McVie and Mick Fleetwood (started Fleetwood Mac), the perpetual succession of great musicians also featured Andy Fraser (co-founded Free), Mick Taylor (who joined The Stones) and Coco Montoya and Walter Trout.
As for the man himself, the father of six and grandfather of six, John Mayall was awarded an OBE in the Queens Honours list and, as usual, shows no signs of slowing down. He has released several solo albums that have set new standards in rock blues and he plans to keep the blues alive for many more years to come.
