In the morning hours just before the commencement of Sakura Sunday, both amateur and experienced athletes will take to the streets for the 3rd Annual Cherry Blossom 5K.

This event has been established to benefit the JASGP Community Tree Planting Project, which aims to:

    1) Beautify the Philadelphia landscape with the continued planting and maintenance of cherry blossom trees
    2) Set the backdrop for the Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival of Greater Philadelphia
    3) Foster environmental appreciation and awareness inspired by Japanese culture
    4) Continue a legacy that began in 1926 with the Japanese government's donation of 1,600 flowering trees to the City of Philadelphia

For more information on the event and how to register, please check out the website.

The run will be followed by Sakura Sunday, the centerpiece event of the Festival.
