The Songs of Wars & Whores: The Henry IV Musical
January 14, 2012
Wars & Whores: The Henry IV Musical, an all-new folk hootenanny adaptation of Shakespeare's Henry IV Part I, was the surprise smash of the 2011 Philly Fringe festival, playing to sold-out crowds in West Philly's beautiful Rotunda sanctuary, and garnering rave reviews from the Inquirer, the Broad Street Review and Phawker, among others. This raucous original new musical presented the Bard’s classic tale of a prince’s coming-of-age as it was intended—with all the foot-stomping, harmonica-blowing, acoustic throwdown tunes your boxcar-riding bones can handle.
The cast and band come to World Cafe Live for a one-night-only command performance of the songs of Wars & Whores, including several newly written tunes for the musical's next incarnation, performed onstage for the very first time.
