MUSIC

Brian Seymour with John Byrne
January 12, 2012
Brian Seymour was born in the shadow of NYC in Paterson, NJ, and raised in Springsteen’s Red Bank. His musical education came courtesy of a father who relaxed to Neil Diamond on the family turntable each night and daily lessons with professors Matt Pinfield and Mike Marrone on FM 106.3 at the Jersey Shore.
He began crafting songs in his teen years blending the power of American rock n’ roll with aspirations towards seasoned tunesmiths like Tom Waits and Carol King. Seymour’s whiskey-voice is familiar and memorable, hitting harder than your usual singer-songwriter fare.
Some things worth asking him about: turning a pair of shows at The Viper Room into a TV ad campaign for Pennsylvania Tourism, waking up to find one find one of his songs on a Cowboymouth record, and landing a residency singing Tom Waits covers in Shanghai.
