SCEE Trip: Lakota Wolf Preserve
January 21, 2012
Top predators have always been a source of fear and wonder for humans. The controversial reintroduction of wolves in the American West makes us wonder what our own forests looked like when wolves roamed free. We'll visit the Lakota Wolf Preserve in the Delaware Water Gap to learn about the social structure of wolf packs, their eating habits, their interaction with man, and the plight of this extirpated Pennsylvania species.
The preserve is not a zoo, and this visit will require walking and being outside for 2 hours, but seeing the wolves and hearing about their lives from SCEE guides will be worth it.
