Tim Portlock and Jordan Griska present works engaging the politics of space, resources, identity, and constructed reality. Tim Portlock's prints are constructed images depicting the contemporary post industrial city using the conventions of the 19th century American landscape. His work is, in large part, created using special effects and computer gaming tools. Portlock will exhibit large scale prints of his urban landscapes as well as smaller, in depth studies, which inform his work. Jordan Griska’s work deals specifically with metaphors for creation and destruction and the struggle to reconstruct and relate personal experiences in the context of our current political landscape. The sculptures and two-dimensional reinterpretations of objects he will exhibit are based on an understanding of industrial fabrication rooted in the engineering of objects like airplanes, bridges, gas pumps, and honor boxes.
