MUSIC

George Cole
January 6, 2012
The George Cole Quintet’s superbly crafted and melodically sophisticated original music reminds us of the best of George Gershwin, Johnny Mercer and Cole Porter. Their highly stylized approach, technical mastery and fast and furious guitar playing is in the tradition of Django Reinhardt. Performing sold out shows at NYC’s Carnegie Hall and in their Bay Area Hometown, Cole's music suggests a hot sultry evening in a 1940's Parisian nightclub. George also spent a decade as guitar instructor and mentor to Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt!
