The Greater New Hope Chamber of Commerce announces the beginning of its holiday celebration with the annual tree lighting and visit from Santa Claus on Sunday, November 27 between 5 and 8 p.m. At 5 p.m. The Dance Junction, the Downtown Performing Arts Glee Club and the Salvation Army Band Ensemble will be on hand to kick off the evening’s festivities. The Bucks County Children’s Museum will offer children’s craft projects. Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive at 6 p.m. in a horse-drawn carriage. Elves will assist Santa in handing out gifts to all the good boys and girls of New Hope. At 7 p.m. New Hope’s giant holiday tree in the center of “cannon square” will be transformed into a light extravaganza set to holiday music. The 10-minute computer-generated light show is not to be missed. There is a second light show at 9 p.m. the same evening.

Beginning November 7, the Chamber will hold a food drive for Fisherman’s Mark of Lambertville, N.J. At Ferry Street Park (next to Martine’s Restaurant) on December 3 re-enactors will recreate Monroe’s crossing of the Delaware River. The re-enactors return to the same location on December 10 and 17 to fire a cannon across the river. Free seasonal weekday parking will be offered throughout New Hope.
