A Sip of Science 2011 Benefit Cocktail Party

The Wagner Free Institute of Science will host its annual benefit cocktail party, A Sip of Science. Held in one of the city’s beloved architectural treasures, this event is the Institute’s principal opportunity to open the doors to its landmark building and unique collection of 100,000 Victorian era natural history specimens and celebrate its achievements and applaud its supporters.

Join Wagner for hors d’oeuvres, cocktails and live music in the Institute’s 19th century exhibit hall. Test your luck and skill with scavenger hunts, science experiments, and special prize drawings. Help the Wagner celebrate its legacy of offering free science education for more than 150 years.

This year, A Sip of Science proceeds will support the award-winning GeoKids program, now in its 20th year. A prime example of the type of free programming that the Institute provides, GeoKids brings hands-on science learning to children at four elementary schools in our North Philadelphia community and has reached more than 5,000 children in grades 1 to 5 since 1992.

The event will attract more than 200 guests from Philadelphia’s cultural and educational communities, as well as many elected officials. Mayor Nutter and Governor Corbett are Honorary Event Chairs and Senator Casey, Congressman Fattah and others have agreed to serve as Honorary members of the event committee.
