“This is a book about what happens when certain casually held attitudes about women are taken to their logical conclusions.” – Margaret Atwood

For November, PAFA’s book club tackles the award-winning dystopian novel The Handmaid’s Tale. Set in a fictional future, Atwood uses the science and religion of contemporary society to dramatize a potential future for America. After reading the novel and thinking critically about some commonly held cultural beliefs, join the club in the galleries of PAFA for a look at some visual depictions of every day life and a discussion of how they relate to Atwood’s arguments.
