Francis Pott’s genius for moving from meditative music through soaring lines to brilliant climaxes inspired our invitation for him to write a new work for this concert.  The world premiere will be complemented by his monumental My Song is Love Unkown, which was a highlight of The Crossing's 2009 season. The Crossing will explore a variety of sacred texts with familiar composers Gabriel Jackson and James MacMillan while introducing to the audience to the extraordinarily creative compositional voices of Estonia’s Toivo Tulev in his Rejoice!, Rejoice! Rejoice! (composed for Elizabeth II’s 2006 state visit to Estonia) and Urmas Sisask in five songs from his epic Gloria Patri, based on the composer’s “planetal scale” of five notes, derived from the rotation of the planets around the sun. The concert offers a rare and varied look into modern devotional art and the extraordinary beauty it inspires in today’s composers.

The commissioned world premiere is written for the opening concert of the National Conference of the Association of Anglican Musicians, whose members will be in attendance as sponsor of this concert.
