The frequently performed music of Kile Smith (b.1956) has been praised by audiences and critics for its emotional power, direct appeal, and strong voice. He is co-host of Discoveries from the Fleisher Collection, host of the contemporary American music show Now is the Time, and is a substitute classical host on WRTI-FM in Philadelphia. He is a regular contributor to the arts and culture e-magazine Broad Street Review. He has composed for Jennifer Montone, Principal Horn of the Philadelphia Orchestra, David Kim, Concertmaster of the Philadelphia Orchestra, and Anne Martindale Williams, Principal Cello of the Pittsburgh Symphony. Vespers and Where flames a word are on the Navona label. Recent works include The Waking Sun for The Crossing and Tempesta di Mare, and Plain Truths for the Newburyport Chamber Music Festival. His commissions for the coming season include anthems, liturgical music, and The Nobility of Women, a major chamber work for Mélomanie.

Settlement's Adult Chamber Players meet bi-weekly at several of the School's six branches. Ensembles are organized based on skill level and musical preference. Coaching is available but groups work primarily independently. Sessions include a social hour, this lecture series and an opportunity to participate in an orchestra that meets weekly.
