Les Contes d’Hoffmann
November 12-October 17, 2011
In a Nuremburg tavern, the poet Hoffmann spins tales of his three great loves: the doll Olympia, the courtesan Giulietta, and the fragile Antonia. He relives each affair in a drunken hallucination and erotic fantasy. Hoffmann’s poetic muse, disguised as a friend, attempts to steer him back to his one true love — poetry, while a version of his nemesis appears in each story to stop the romance.
