Philadelphia Jewish Film Festival Presents: Invisible (Lo Roim Alaich)
November 14, 2011
In this emotional and powerful debut feature, acclaimed Israeli documentarian Michal Aviad tells the story of two strong women brought together by personal and political upheaval. Nira (Evgenia Dodina), a mild-mannered television editor, meets Lily (Ronit Elkabetz), an Israeli activist who organizes against the abuses of Palestinians. Both women share a trauma that has shaped their inner lives and intimate relationships. Magnified by the struggle to discover the fate of their assailant, they wrestle with their own evolving self-discovery. Incorporating archival interview footage of the historic rape case that shook Tel Aviv from 1977 to 1978, Invisible is a visionary and subtle meditation on the intersection of politics, sexuality, and individual transformation.
In Hebrew with English subtitles.
